Obituary for Neal Joseph Kearney

Neal Joseph Kearney
KEARNEY, Neal Joseph, B.A. (Hons.), LL.B., passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family after an amazingly courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, March 11th, 2015, at the age of 65. Neal was the beloved and cherished husband of Pat (née Lajoie), loving father of and life-long sage and friend to Don (Derick), Kate (Shawn) and Emily (Chris), & proud and devoted grandpa to Sam. He will be missed by his four-legged girl Gracie. Neal was pre-deceased by his parents Nora and Michael. He was the youngest sibling of Marie (Frank), John (Eileen), Mike (Bette) and pre-deceased by his sister Kay (Brian). Neal was a loving and much loved uncle to many nieces and nephews. His love of travel, adventure, golf, curling, experimental cooking, euchre and life will be dearly missed by his family, his friends and business associates. A proud graduate of Brébeuf College School, York University and the University of Windsor Law School, Neal was a long-time member of the Law Society of Upper Canada with a thriving, 30-year law practice in Newmarket. His humour, hard work, positive outlook on life and ability to make others feel welcomed and comfortable were admired by many and his passing leaves a great void in the lives of those who loved him. An ever-faithful fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs, he was hoping to see them win the ever-elusive Cup one last time. Donations can be made to the Stronach Regional Cancer Centre in memory of him. Many thanks to all the staff at Southlake Regional Health Centre, the Stronach Regional Cancer Centre and the CCAC who made his illness more bearable and provided him with outstanding care and support. The kindness shown by family and friends towards the end of his life with food, visits and kind words will never be forgotten. Visitation will take place at at the Roadhouse & Rose Funeral Home, 157 Main Street South, Newmarket, on Monday March 16th, 2015 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Funeral mass to take place at St. John Chrysostom Church (Main & Ontario Streets, Newmarket) on Tuesday, March 17th, 2015 at 11 am. On-line condolences may be made at www.roadhouseandrose.com As the funeral is on St. Patrick's Day, a wearin' of a touch of green would be welcomed.
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
