Obituary for Cynthia Clegg

Cynthia Clegg
CLEGG, Cynthia (nee Nicholson) 1927- 2015

It is with great sadness we announce the unexpected passing after a brief illness of our dearest mother, sister, grandmother and aunt on June 5 at 11pm at the Southlake Regional Health Centre, Newmarket. Cynthia was 88. She will be missed by brother Father Roland Nicholson of Lancashire England, daughters Sharon Clegg- Lintner and Pamela Clegg-Woodsworth, ( son- in- law Gregory Woodsworth), son Stephen Clegg (daughter- in- law Josephine McConnell), grandsons Brent, Brayden, Ryan, Adam, Graeme, Kieran and Quinn as well as many nieces and nephews in the UK and beyond.
Cynthia left Preston, Lancashire, England in 1949 joining her dearest husband William Clegg (1925-2002) in Montreal, Canada. In 1964, they settled in Newmarket and over the many years, built a lifetime of dear friends and community. She obtained her Ontario Real Estate Broker license in 1968 and after a short career in sales, went on to work at the Southlake Regional Health Centre in administration services until retirement. Cynthia received a Lifetime Achievement award from the Newmarket Lioness Club and was an active member with the Volunteer Committee at Southlake Regional Health Centre devoting many hours to community services. She greatly enjoyed multiple friends and neighbours showering kindness, generosity and good nature on all. Cynthia loved to travel and had many fun filled voyages over the years including the Caribbean, the UK, Europe and Africa.
Friends of Cynthia are cordially invited to visitation at Roadhouse & Rose Funeral Home, 157 Main St. South, Newmarket on Tuesday June 9, from 2-4 and 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St John Chrysostom Church on Wednesday June 10 at 10:30 a.m. A reception in the Parish Hall will follow the church service.
Our sincere thanks to the emergency and ICU nurses and doctors at Southlake Regional Health Centre for their expert care. Online condolences may be made at www.roadhouseandrose.com
