SYKES, Marjorie Mabel (nee Blythe) – Passed peacefully during the early evening at Aurora Resthaven on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 in her 98th year. Predeceased by her beloved husband Charles Partridge Sykes, loving daughter Sharon Joan, sister Nellie Stainton (Ritson), brother Albert Blythe (Doris) as well as her parents Mabel and Benjamin Blythe. Loving and devoted mother to Pamela (Paul) and Bryan (Kathy). Marjorie will be greatly missed by her grandchildren Mark (Katie), Michelle and Ben (Erin) as well as her adoring great grandchildren Abby and Joel. Marjorie enjoyed her career as school secretary welcoming all who met her with a warm greeting, care and understanding. After retirement her leisure time was spent with frequent travel, golf, cross country skiing and many bridge and scrabble games. Her quiet time was taken up knitting caps for new borns and crocheting lap blankets for the elderly. She also gave of her time driving friends to activities and appointments. She experienced great joy as a volunteer at the Sunshine Centre for Seniors on Ward’s Island. Marjorie leaves behind her warm smile and her thankfulness to all who made her life full. The family would like to thank the staff at Aurora Resthaven for their kindness and care. A celebration of mom’s life will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2015 at the Roadhouse & Rose Funeral Home, 157 Main Street South, Newmarket. Visitation at 10 a.m. with a service to follow at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Sunshine Centre for Seniors or a charity of your choice.
