LAMONT, HELEN - The family sadly announces the passing of Helen Elizabeth Lamont on Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2016, in Stouffville at Country Home Care, with her children by her side. Helen was the sixth and youngest child of Morris Pakozdy and Mary Meyer Pakozdy and was born in Welland, Ontario on February 16, 1930. She is pre-deceased by her husband, George Lamont and later by Norm Legge and Ed McMullen. She leaves behind her children Laurie (Wayne Douglas), Morris (Dorothy), Bonnie (Dr. F. Moore) and George (Heather); grandchildren Holly (Brian Hagan), Heather (Keith Mitchell), Zachary, Elijah, Victoria, Kaitlyn, Alex and Jack; and by great-grandchildren Sophie-Claire and Eric Hagan, and Jaxon Mitchell.

Helen was a St. Joseph’s Nursing graduate (1950) and worked at Welland County General Hospital, St. Joseph’s Hospital in Toronto, later at what is now Southlake Regional Health Centre and then as a community health nurse for the Region of York. She was on the Immunization Team there and greatly enjoyed travelling to area schools. Helen retired in Newmarket where she enjoyed some travelling and the company of her friends and family.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to all of the very caring staff and management of Country Home Care located in Stouffville, Ontario. Their excellent care for Mom and our family will not be forgotten. We would also like to extend our most heartfelt thanks to Nicole Parker, of Newmarket, who made it possible for Mom to stay in her own home up until the last 2 years.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, 17955 Leslie Street, Newmarket on Tuesday December 13, 2016 at 1 p.m. with one hour of visitation prior.
