Dr. Peter Donald Newbigging - Passed suddenly at Toronto Western Hospital, on Monday June 5th, 2017, in his 77th year. Loving husband of 53 years of Lois (nee Cornwall). Beloved father of David and his wife Pui, Wendy (deceased), Susan and her husband Chris, Michael and his wife Felicia. Proud “Poppie” to his grandchildren Emmalie, Ivy, Sophie, Andrew, Benjamin, Luke and Adia. Survived by his brother Dr. Paul Newbigging and wife Jeanette. Son of the late Donald and Irene (nee Humphries) Newbigging.
Peter was born in England on October 18th, 1939 and immigrated to Canada as a young boy. He attended the University of Toronto where he graduated from Medicine in 1964, and practiced at Etobicoke General (William Osler) Hospital for 38 years.
Peter had a love of learning, a vibrant laugh, a strong personal faith, and above all a deep love and commitment to his family. He will be dearly missed.
Friends may call at the Roadhouse & Rose Funeral Home, 157 Main St. S., Newmarket on Friday June 9th from 3-5 & 7-9pm. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 am on Saturday June 10th at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, 227 Church St., Newmarket with a reception in the church hall to follow. In Peter’s memory, donations may be made to the Hospital for Sick Children.
