Condolence: I just read of Peter's passing in the Ontario Medical Review. Having had the opportunity to work with Peter at EGH was a privilege for us all. Gem of a man! Skilled, compassionate physician; one for the ages! I'm sure that I can speak for the entire Emergency Department in expressing our most sincere condolences to his family. G-d bless you Peter!!

Condolence: Dear Mrs Newbigging and Family,

Dr Newbigging had seen both my Mother and Father during their times at EGH. He was always so lovely and would sit on their bed and hold Mom's hand when she was worried. For Dad, he would rest a hand on his shoulder. I remember him so fondly for putting their (and my) minds at ease before any procedures. He was so lovely to both Dad and I at Christ Church the first Christmas service we were at a few days after Mom died, holding my hand and comforting me then too. My heart goes out to you and your family but know that there are MANY who remember him with great love and affection for all the lives he touched in his gentle way. May God hold you all in the palm of his hand and give you comfort in knowing he is at peace and with loved ones I know he missed greatly.

Condolence: It was a shock to hear of Peter's death through Chris Waddell this morning. Over the years, he and I shared many memories of our concurrent residencies at The University of Toronto, he in Internal Medicine and I in Surgery during the 60's. And then for over 30 years we were colleagues and friends at Etobicoke General Hospital. Quiet, soft-spoken and polite to the extreme, he was truly a valued colleague. His skilled and compassionate care of his and our mutual patients was legendary. Untold hundreds of patients had the benefit of his care, support, and understanding. He always gave them his complete attention and listened to their concerns in an unhurried manner. What a gentleman - one of a kind, for sure. I will remember Peter fondly and with the great respect he deserves. To Lois, his family, friends and relatives, I offer my profound sympathy.
