Condolences

Condolence From: Donna Wensell
Condolence: I knew Joseph Michael Housam back in 2006-2007 when he attended the University of Western Ontario Piano Technology program. It was a very tough and rigourus program, and the 14 of us managed to get through the year and learned lots. We all felt like family, after being though so much, and we are all saddened to have lost our younger brother last year. Joe used to play Amy Winehouse "Rehab" over and over as we were working on our pianos! We were in the midst of planning a reunion when we found out that Joe had passed. We thought we were going to see him again, but that time had run out. All 13 of us hope you are dancing amongst the stars now!

Condolence: No one can prepare you for a loss; it comes like a swift wind. This young man left too early. However, take comfort in knowing that he is now at rest, but only temporarily. Revelation 21:4 says, "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." Isaiah 35:8 says, "He will swallow up death forever, And the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will wipe away the tears from all faces. The reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth, For Jehovah himself has spoken it." My deepest condolences go out to the whole family.

Condolence: The message of Joe's passing reached me while in Scotland with a group of students. I have wonderful memories of similar excursions with Joe; his graciousness dealing with younger students, his excitement about geoscience, the happiness he radiated at camp, the piece of core he brought me after his first summer job. Any Beatles song I hear reminds me of him and his love of life. I am thankful for having met him.

Condolence: I wanted to send all my love and support through. I am thinking of you all. I only wish that in such sadness you are able to find a pocket of happiness today to remember the beautiful soul that was Joe, I can't not smile when I think about the way his slow smile used to take over his whole face, the way that his calm and unassuming manner belied a super smart brain that looked at the world with continual compassion and intrigue. It was such a short time that I got to spend with him when he was living with Gran and Grandad but you could firmly see the man he was becoming and he was a special one. Love you all very much x

Condolence: Met Joe when were both about 15 working at mcdonalds, we shared many adventures over the next decade, and those are memories I'll never forget, we grew apart in recent years as Joe has always been a rambling man, while I'm more of a stay at home kind of guy, but we always kept in touch and whenever we did manage to get together it's was always like old times, I guess that's something I thought we would always have, I'm gonna miss you buddy.

Condolence: I feel very fortunate that I had the opportunity to talk to Joe at Steve's 60th last year, and to appreciate the kind and thoughtful young adult he had become. Over the years I have enjoyed hearing news about Joe and learning that he was growing into a caring young man and talented musician, and I could feel your pride and closeness as a family. I'm saddened by your loss and sorry I can't be with you right now, but you're always in my thoughts. Sending you my love. Jackie xx

Condolence From: Pamela
Condolence: "Gorgeous Joe". My strongest memories are of you with your beautiful curly hair and angelic face as a little one. Gentle Joe amongst the rough and tumble of my James and your cousins. Our two trips to Canada and, especially, the camping trip when James went fishing with you. His first time and you showing him the ropes. When we left you were dressed up in a carrier bag sitting by the swimming pool. So at one with who you were. Then seeing you at your Dad's 60th grown into such a fine young man. You mean the world to your family and my heart aches for my beautiful friend, Louise, and for Stephen and Tess. Your Grandma and Grandad will have you wrapped safely in their angel wings and the love so many have for you will continue to grow. Bless you Joe for being the wonderful soul you are. My deepest condolences and love to Louise, Stephen, Tess and all of the lives you have touched. Xxx

Condolence: It is with heavy hearts and sorrow that our thoughts go out to Steve Louise and Tessa, for the loss of Joseph. From the teenager with golden dreadlocks to the accomplished young man that he became, Joe left a lasting impression on everyone that knew him. We will remember fondly the many evenings up north enjoying music and good conversations around the campfire. In the many years since we first met the Housams, they have become our closest friends. We will always be here for you. With our sympathy and deepest condolences, Dennis & Heather

Condolence: Our first and very special nephew Joe. It’s been a privilege to have watched and shared some very special moments of his life from being a babe in arms at our wedding to a successful mature man at his Dad’s 60th birthday party. Our first memories of Joe in Canada are when he was just a boy playing football, being cheered on by his Mum shouting “GO JOE, GO JOE” and then we watched him playing ice hockey, all dressed up in the gear. Our camping trip memories will last forever. He would be there to keep our 2 boys and his little sister Tessa occupied - Joe the big protector. We would share stories and jokes around the camp fires and had fun at Billy Bear Lodge. We all went to Cornwall, in rainy, misty England and he kept all his cousins out of mischief with some huge blow up aliens and went with them all to the Busy Bees hut. Joe grew into a fine young adult and was always caring and sensible. He was a great dancer, showing off his moves at Lucy’s wedding. He was also a wonderful singer. We’ll never forget his rendition of “What a Wonderful World” when he sounded just like Louis Armstrong! He was so very bright and quick witted with a zest for life, travelling and studying, a very special person. He even found time to come to England to stay with his elderly grandparents and spent quality time with them. He always lit up a room with his humour and interesting conversation. Joe will be sadly missed but never forgotten. Sent with love from Uncle Dave and Aunty Sue xx

Condolence: It is difficult to express the impact Joseph has made on our family over the years. Joseph was always the closest of friends with Dean & Kendra and it was always a pleasure when he would come to visit our home. I remember impromptu jams with Joe on whichever instruments were close at hand and a few conversations where Joseph opened up to me on topics that concerned him. It was on these occasions I realized the true depth of Joseph’s intellect and the rhythm of his soul. Norma and I are deeply saddened by the loss of Little Joe, this being the name as we knew him best. We extend our sincere condolences to Joe’s family and friends. Joe will forever be close in our hearts.

Condolence: I am deeply saddened by the loss of my oldest friend. I have a lifetime of memories spanning from childhood to present. Joe was a beautiful soul, full of love, laughter, kindness and talent. He had an infectious laugh and brought happiness and cheer everywhere he went. I will never forget the countless days we spent together on Handley Cresent or the concerts and gatherings we attended as teens and adults. My deepest sympathy to the Housam family for your loss. Joe will forever remain in our hearts.

Condolence: Joe was my first TA in Earth Sciences, and he really helped show how great of a program it was and how wonderful the members of the community were. His presence at my first Geology Games competition in Ottawa was hilarious, leaving us with songs that we have repeated at every competition since. I wish I could have gotten to know him further, but I'm grateful I got to know him at all. My utmost condolences towards your loss.
