It is with extreme sadness that we say goodbye to Dolores who passed away peacefully at Southlake Regional Hospital on friday June 30th 2017 in her 86th year. Married to her late husband Jim for 59 years. Beloved mother of Stephen (Shelley), Michael, Jennifer Thomson (David), Karen Bohn (Lorne), Shelley Martin (Michael) and Peter (Jackie). Proud Grandmother of Bryan (Candice), Melissa (Jay Purdy), Stephen Thomson, Jeremy Mathieson (Brittney), Shawna Thomson (Craig), Emily Mathieson, Cailin, Molly, Justin, Rielly, Ella Bohn and Jaxon Bohn. Great Grandmother of Tatyana, Sara, Larissa, Austin, Zander and Devon.
Survived by her sister in-laws Marg Flint (Bruce deceased), Marie and Shane Coburn, (Edna Teddy Deceased), (Jackie Deceased) Jim Johnston and Brother in law Paul McNamara (Bonnie). Survived by her own siblings and specially missed Yvonne. She was a devoted daughter in law to the late Verna and Michael McNamara. Aunt Toots will be missed by many Nephews and Nieces.
Dolores was born in Kitchener Ontario, November 26th 1930 to the late Gordon and Stella Wheeler. She was raised in the country and later moved to Toronto where she began her very brief career at CN where she met our father and married May 2nd 1953. Dolores had many jobs over her lifetime one of the hardest jobs being, raising her 6 Children and often taking care of our neighbours child Lorne Goltz. During those years she found herself working as a waitress in a Highway Restaurant on the night shift. She drove school bus for Saint Patrick School in Schomberg, on halloween she would dress up like a witch and greet the children with a treat when they got on the bus. She helped all of her children at various times whether it was looking after her Grandchildren, helping furnish apartments, lending and giving us money, buying groceries, lending us cars and doing whatever she could do to make us happy.
She was very crafty. She took a flower arranging course and soon after started working in a flower shop. She took a ceramics course then bought a kiln and our basement looked like a ceramic store. Whatever craft it was, our mother could do it. She was an excellent seamstress and quite often made things for family and friends. She also made her own wedding dress.
Approximately 38 years ago our mother was involved in a couple of serious car crashes, through no fault of her own, which left her complications from surgeries and great pain. This involved in later years to more complications and having to hire caregivers. Throughout this time she never lost her sense of humour. She had a huge heart and, an even bigger smile. She would help anyone.
We would like to thank her caregivers Marivic Aninon and Tenette Beltran for their years of love and dedication to our mother. Thank you to the ladies at the condo who brought joy to her heart and the staff at the condo who helped her over the years. We know you are suffering a loss as well. We would also like to thank all the staff at Southlake Regional Hospital for the many times our mother was a patient. Her 9 lives have come to an end. Rest in Peace Mom.
