Obituary for Harvey Alexander Pearson

Harvey (Sandy) Alexander Pearson July 22, 1942 – August 21, 2017, age 75 years. Sandy passed away suddenly, with family at his side, at Sunnybrook Hospital. Loving husband of Evelyn; proud father of Scott (Andrea), Alex (Alpha); and, devoted grandfather of Hannah and Ethan. Much loved brother of Doug (Joan) and Bill (Carolyn). Sandy was predeceased by his parents, Margaret Lillian (nee Massey) Pearson and Harvey Clinton Pearson. Sandy grew up in Toronto and attended Northern Secondary School, then Ryerson College where he studied electrical engineering. Sandy became a navigator in the Royal Canadian Air Force and was stationed in Gander, Newfoundland where he met Evelyn. They were married for 49 years. Sandy later worked for the Ontario Ministry of the Environment in water treatment as a plant manager, and, later, as a Senior Inspector until retirement. Sandy will be sadly missed by extended family and friends in Newmarket and Norland. He will be remembered for his devotion to family. Sandy enjoyed travelling the world with Evelyn by his side. His eclectic hobbies included all things technical and automotive. He enjoyed a good glass of scotch, Evelyn’s cooking, and his cottage on Shadow Lake. Most of all, he cherished his time with Hannah and Ethan. Sandy will be remembered as a reliable and principled man. A memorial service will be held at 11.00 am on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 519, County Road 48 (near Hwy. 35), Coboconk, ON. Reception will follow with lunch served. In lieu of flowers, charitable donations would be appreciated to Norland Hope United Church, 7521 Highway 35, Norland, ON, K0M 2L0.
