Obituary for William Charles Abbott

William Charles Abbott
ABBOTT, William (Bill) Charles
May 18, 1925 – September 14, 2017

Passed away peacefully in the Palliative Care Unit at Southlake Regional Health Centre in his 93rd year. He was the beloved husband of (deceased) Mary (nee Lucas) for 66 years and devoted father to Sue (Alvin) Thompson and Jane Abbott (Andrew). Loving and very proud papa of Michael and Jamie (Erin) Lindsay and step-grandfather to Alissa (Mike) Ford, Mindy Thompson (Frank) and Jason Thompson. Bill enjoyed being a step-great grampa to Wayne, Ben and Oceana. He will also be lovingly remembered by his nieces, Carolyn Eubanks, Diane Keefe and Mary Lucas and nephew, Scott Lucas, and their families, as well as Susan Lindsey and Joan Lindsey.

A sincere thank you for the care and compassion Bill received from the specialists and nurses while in the Medical Assessment & Consultation Unit (MACU) and the Palliative Care Unit, and for their control of dad’s comfort.

Visitation will take place in the chapel at Roadhouse and Rose Funeral Home, 157 Main St. S., Newmarket on Wednesday, September 20th at 1:00, followed by a memorial service at 2:00. Guests are invited to join the family for refreshments after the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Southlake Regional Health Centre Foundation, 581 Davis Drive, Unit #102, Newmarket L3Y 2P6, the Ontario S.P.C.A. or a charity of your choice.
