Condolence From: Murray and Marilyn (Bennett) Hopton
Condolence: I am thinking of my cousin Doug's wife and family, and Doug's sister Joy, in Alberta, and his older brothers, Jim and his wife Joan in Toronto, and Ron in Barrie, as we all come together to remember Doug. As youngsters, your Bennett and Morgan cousins always looked forward to visiting Aunt Ivy and Uncle Charlie's house in Toronto. With so many cousins together, it was guaranteed to be a good time, with Aunt Ivy and Uncle Charlie Smith and our Smith cousins making us feel so welcome. They always found room for us around their table, and you were always so much fun to be around, Doug; you were our tall, dark and handsome cousin. Thanks for the memories, and as Uncle Charlie used to say, "God Bless" x x x

Condolence: Dear Dave,

May Carolyn and I extend our sympathies to your sisters, to Shirley and to you for your sudden loss of your dad, Doug.

I really enjoyed Doug's company and wisdom when we shared time together, back when he was living in Newmarket and we saw each other at Northridge Church, particularly through our small group fellowship. I appreciated your dad's perspective on matters and I loved his sense of humour and his devotion to his faith. He also raised a very good son in you Dave, who he loved and enjoyed many good times with. He learned you well!

As I mentioned to you on Monday, I was thinking of you and Doug recently, knowing you and your dad would have been on cloud 9 with the Argos winning the Grey Cup; then to learn your dad and you could not be together for that great game, not ever knowing the chance to do that together again was not in our good Lord's plans, was sad news indeed.

Your dad brought me and others, joy, wisdom and happiness and I appreciate having known him, as I appreciated our friendship and time together for worship.

May he now be in eternal peace, may he dwell in heaven and may you and family take great comfort in Doug being in paradise. I will miss him, but have great memories of him and our good times.
