Obituary for Elizabeth (Beth) Challis Ferkranus

Elizabeth (Beth) Challis Ferkranus
FERKRANUS, Elizabeth Challis (nee Dewhirst) – Beth lived 43 short but wonderful years. During her lifetime she married Derek, the love of her life, and spent 20 years with him. They had two incredible daughters, Emma and Isabelle, who filled her heart with joy. She was the daughter of Dick and Gretchen Dewhirst who raised her to be the kind, giving and inspirational woman she was. She was joined in life by her sisters; her constant companions and best friends, Kate Myers (Alec), and fellow triplets Kit Woods (Mark) and Erin Martin (Matthew). She was blessed with a loving in-law family which included parents-in-law Edith Dewolde and Chuck Ferkranus and sisters-in-law Lorissa, Andrea (Jay) and Alaina (Cam). She was a fun-loving aunt to 11 nieces and nephews and an inspiration to so many others through her work as a teacher at Huron Heights, her volunteer work with LGBTQ youth, speaking engagements with Positively Kind and was a kindness ninja! She will be missed by every member of her large extended family and the many communities of which she was a part. Friends may call at the Roadhouse & Rose Funeral Home, 157 Main Street South, Newmarket for visitation on Friday January 5, 2018 from 6-9 p.m. A celebration of life will be held at the St. Paul’s Anglican Church, 227 Church Street, Newmarket on Saturday January 6, 2018 at 2 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to St. James the Apostle Anglican Church (We Are A Safe Place for LGBTQ youth), Princess Margaret Hospital – Cancer Research, Huron Heights Arts Huron Program and a Go-Fund Me page has been set up for Emma and Izzy's Education.
