Obituary for Neil Gordon Harrison

NEIL G., “Harry” Harrison
Left us peacefully while at home in Newmarket on Monday, February 24, 2014 at the age of 65, after a courageous battle with brain cancer.
Loving husband of 37 years to wife Jane (Clune). Proud father of Amber and her husband, Andrew Chard, and Sean and his girlfriend, Lauren Wood.
Survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and David Yourt, and his brother and sister-in-law Ross and Linda Harrison. Son of the late Burritt and Marjorie Harrison.
Known affectionately by friends as ‘Harry’, Neil was born and raised in Peterborough, Ontario. He was a retired Fire Captain, serving over 30 years with Toronto Fire Services.
Neil was an accomplished and respected member of the Canadian curling fraternity. Six-time Provincial Champion, two-time Canadian and World Champion and an all around world class guy.
Neil’s sharp wit, infectious laugh and kind spirit will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.
‘Harry’s’ final beach party will be held at Roadhouse & Rose Funeral Home, 157 Main Street South, in Newmarket on Tuesday, March 4 from 1-4 p.m. & 7-9 p.m. Celebration of Life service will be held at Trinity United Church, 461 Park Avenue, Newmarket on Wednesday, March 5 at 11 a.m. Reception will follow at the Town of Newmarket Community Centre and Lions Hall, 200 Doug Duncan Drive.
