Obituary for Aino Maria Arento (Valden)
Passed away peacefully at Southlake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket on July 5, 2021 in her 101st year. Loving wife of the late Eino. Beloved mother of Carl (Heather) and proud grandmother of Dina and Edward. Sister to the late Ville and Toivo Varilo.
Aino was born in Kotka, Finland. She was a nurse during the Winter and Finnish Russian War. In her early 30's she emigrated to Canada where she met and married Eino. She worked at nursing, the Canadian Postal Service, and, together with her husband, ran a sauna. She even tried beef farming for several years. She volunteered at the Suomi-Koti Toronto Canadian Senior's Centre for over 10 years. Aino loved classical music, especially operas and had a collection of over 1000 records.
