Alexander James Pappas

December 20th, 1948 – December 8th, 2020

Alexander James Pappas, better known as Sandy Pappas, passed away peacefully at Sunny Brook Hospital in Toronto, on Tuesday December 8th, 2020, in his 72nd year.

Sandy was the beloved father of Ashleigh Pappas, but was considered to be a father-figure by many others throughout his lifetime. Ashleigh has begun her journey following in her father’s dreams of becoming a psychotherapist and will continue to honour his memory through this.

Sandy was the dear son of Anne and Nicholas Pappas, both born in Montreal. Sandy was one of seven brothers and sisters, all who were also born in Montreal. He was a beloved brother to – Victoria Pappas, Chris Pappas, Theodora Pappas, Penny Robertson as well as twins Andrew and Nicki. Sandy was also a beloved Uncle to John Pappas, Allie Pappas and Aiden Pappas as well as, Ryan and Jason Mendes.

Sandy was a graduate of Concordia University in Montreal, where he obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. Sandy embarked on his career as an insurance professional in the role of an adjuster. He went on to assume both management and senior examining roles. He was a property specialist and fire investigator who developed many close friends in the insurance industry.

Sandy loved spending time with his daughter Ashleigh, his beloved siblings and his friends. His favourite place in the world was the Lime Tree Resort in Sarasota, Florida, where he would spend hours with his daughter combing the beach for seashells, sea creatures and sandollars. He loved being at the cottage on the water, fishing and of course quality food, like Keftedes (Greek meatballs).

He will be forever missed, but always in our hearts. In light of the current global situation, a celebration of Sandy’s life will be arranged when it is safe to do so.
