Obituary for Anthony Raymond Casciato

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Anthony Raymond Casciato, April 3, 1937 – April 29, 2022, Anthony or Tony as he was known to most, passed away peacefully at Margaret Bahen Hospice in Newmarket, Ontario, shortly after his 85th birthday.

Tony is survived by his loving wife of 40 years Maria (Connie) Casciato (nee Rego) and was a dedicated father to his two daughters, Nicole Casciato Csinos (Mark Csinos) & Ashley Casciato. He was a special Papa to Samantha Nicole and Quinn Constance Casciato.

Tony was born in Toronto, son of the late Adam and Jean Casciato (nee Urquhart). Tony was the youngest of 5 and is survived by his sister Evelyn Fontana and brother Joe Blondin and was predeceased by his brother Leonard Casciato and his sister Giovina Murrell.

Tony attended St Michael's College and later pursued a career in the financial sector. In his younger years he lived a life less ordinary, performing in marching bands, playing for the Canadian-Italian hockey league and traveling.

Tony will be missed by many. He had the most genuine heart and a love of all people that was evident in all of his interactions. Witty, charismatic and outgoing, Tony would know someone everywhere he went. Tony had a love for baseball, umpiring for many years and was probably the Toronto Blue Jay’s #1 fan. In his later years he kept busy playing cards with different community groups, crossword puzzles, playing in community bands and spending time with his family and friends.

Tony made it very clear before his passing that he lived his life to the fullest with lots of love. He would not want to be mourned and instead would encourage all to live a life full of authenticity and happiness.
May he rest in peace.

Cremation has taken place, in honour of Anthony’s wishes, there will be no funeral service.
