Obituary for Arnold Sylvester Leeder

Arnold Leeder March 16, 1926 - January 24, 2019
With heavy hearts we share the loss of our father, grandfather and great grandfather Arnold Sylvester Leeder in his 93rd year.
Dad passed on January 24, 2019, joining his wife and our mom Sylvia Jean Dolby Leeder after missing her for 25 years. Dad is the last of his family to join his parents and brothers in the arms of his Lord.
There was much to our dad. He was a WW2 veteran, a York Region police constable and detective, a family man, foster dad, a trucker, a farmer, a handyman, a devoted church member, a road traveller, a lover of old country music, and a whistler.
Dad leaves his family, Mary-Anne Leeder Stevenson, Carol Leeder Chaisson, David Leeder, Janet Leeder Hogan, Dianna Leeder along with their spouses Scott, Les, Nora, Ted and Glen, who he was also a dad to. His 14 grandchildren Melanie, Brett, Matthew, Hillary, Miranda, Paige, Drew, Emily, Whitney, Adam, Andrea, Grace, Jeffrey and Tyson, and his 18 great-grandchildren Victoria, Brooke, Lucas, Lydia, Sylvia, Sophie, Sadie, Samantha, Maxwell, Emerie, Haven, Madison, Landon, Owen, Olivia, Griffin, Charlie and William. His son in his heart, Bob.
We are full of love for the man who carved the path for us. Our dad was a man of integrity, honesty and loyalty, characteristics that we will continue to strive for, likely never reaching his bar.
You are in a better place Dad, dancing with Mom somewhere beautiful. Time will lessen the hurt of losing you but your legacy will live on forever.
Special acknowledgement to the staff at the Coleman Care Centre in Barrie, Ontario. He could not have spent his last months anywhere more kind or loving. We are forever grateful.
Services will be held at The Church of the Nazarene 79 Main Street S, Newmarket, Ontario on Wednesday January 30, 2019. Visitation is at 10 am, the celebration of his life led by Rev Keith Taylor at 11 am, followed by internment at Newmarket Cemetery, then a luncheon back at the church.
In lieu of flowers, we respectfully ask that donations be made to Dad’s church family, the Church of the Nazarene, Newmarket, Ontario. On-line condolences may be left at www.roadhouseandrose.com
