Obituary for Bertha Marie Vernon (Sisler)

Vernon, Bertha Marie (Berte)
November 11, 1931 - March 5, 2024

Passed peacefully at Georgian Bay General Hospital, Midland.

Mom was a past Regent of I.O.D.E. during life in Milton and spent several years in the banking world with British Mortgage and Trust, Victoria and Grey Trust Company and Scotia Bank.

She was a passionate golfer at Toronto Ladies and in Florida with Dad and her wonderful friends Terri and Doreen. Many hours were also spent at the curling rink with Dad.

Mom was very involved with the creation of the Richmond Hill Centennial Pool.

Winter months were spent in Ft. Myers Beach, Florida with Dad and then after his passing more wonderful years with all the many friends from Admiral’s Bay.

Mom had the most beautiful smile for everyone, even her Voilà delivery man. Nothing was better than time spent with family and friends and dressing for the occasion.

Berte was married to the love of her life, the late John Franklin (Jack) Vernon (April 24, 1929-December 7, 2008, for 57 years and survived by daughters Dawn (Pat Labarbera), Wendy (Bill Gale), granddaughters Shannon (Matt and Westley), Heather (Darren) and great granddaughter Briar. Brother Bob (Beth) and many extended members of our family, nieces, nephews and cousins. We mustn’t forget the cherished family pet, Poody the whippet from Ireland.

Mom and Dad so enjoyed their travels to Europe, especially Ireland.

Cremation has taken place. Internment and a celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

Donations may be made to The Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation or The Canadian Cancer Society.
