Obituary for Betty Louise Burke (McArthur)

BURKE, Betty Louise (nee; McArthur)

Passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones, at Southlake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket, on Thursday March 4th, 2021, in her 85th year.

Loving wife of 62 years of the late Kenneth Francis Burke. Beloved Mom of Richard, Mike and wife Joanne, Elaine and husband Lloyd Sainsbury, Tim and his late wife Mary, and Janice and her husband Marty Neville. Proud and loving Gramma of Mark, Matthew, Shawna and her husband Dylan Cornforth, Ryan and girlfriend Georgina, Drew and Nikki. Great-Gramma of Logan and Patrick, Brody, Annabelle and Theodore. Betty was a devoted homemaker who spent her time caring for and loving her family. Those who were lucky enough to cross her path knew that she would always be there to help and offer support and love, but they also came to know her special sense of humor and loving sarcastic remarks.

She was a proud member of her Church St. Elizabeth Seton Parish and was a regular at the 4:30 pm Saturday mass. Betty had a green thumb and loved to care for her plants. She had a special admiration for hummingbirds and would wait for the hummingbirds to come visit her at her kitchen window. She loved to spend a moment with a loved one and a hot cup of tea.

The family would like to thank the staff at Southlake Regional Health Centre for making Betty’s last moments peaceful. They would also like to thank the staff for their overwhelming compassion and love.
