Denise Alice Jeanne Hoppener

Passed away peacefully at Southlake Residential Care Village in Newmarket, on December 8, 2022 in her 95th year. The Hoppener family would like to thank the caring staff at Southlake for the care they gave Denise.
Denise was;
Beloved mother of Pierre (wife Laura), Allan (partner Lisa), Niels (wife Angela)
Proud Grandmother of Kristi (husband Steve), Cassandra and James
Proud Great Grandmother of Elodie Rose and Annabelle Grace
Sister in law of Pepina and Aunt of Jean-Pierre
Sister of the late John, the late Yvette, the late Charles
Denise was born in 1927 in Port Francqui, Congo to Pierre Jean Schepers and Jean Marie Schepers (born Withaeghs). Denise grew up in Africa and spent the first 23 years of her long life there. Denise moved back to Belgium in 1950 where she worked as a cartographer until she met her husband of 22 years, the late Henk Willem Hoppener. Pierre and Allan were born in Belgium and the family emigrated to Canada in 1960. Youngest son Niels was born in Ottawa in 1962.
Denise enjoyed travel and was blessed to have visited many countries during her 95 years. We will miss Denise and her stories. Especially of her time in Africa.
Denise will be cremated and interred at Highland Memory Gardens with immediate family in attendance. No public service will be held.
