Obituary for Dolores Bennett

Dolores Bennett, born May 13th 1943, passed away in her 77th year, at home on Saturday October 24th 2020. Loving Mother of Teresa Service (nee Bennett), and mother-in-law of Peter Service. Proud Grandmother of Shannon Young and Vincent Young. Loving sister of Roger Bennett (Joan Bennett) .

Dolores was born in Come by Chance Newfoundland in 1943. She moved to Toronto, Ontario in her teens. Over the years she has worked for Sears as an associate, Red Cross Care Partners taking blood, 3M developing photographs and as a receptionist; she then moved on to Catholic Teachers as a receptionist and worked there for over 20 years, until she retired at 65.

Dolores was the strongest, most loving, supportive, and caring person; everyone who met her knew this. She has touched all of our lives and made a life-long impression that we will hold in our hearts forever. She was a Mother to everyone who met her and she cared tremendously about the people around her.

We fondly remember her reading and signing to us as children. She could silence the room and make time stop when she sang. She loved getting lost in her books, drinking a good cup of tea with toast (and an occasional brandy), watching the world events on the news, sharing her opinions, and never, ever leaving the house without her red lipstick on.
