Obituary

SEEFRIED, Dorothy Margaret

Passed away peacefully on February 4, 2020, at the age of 74. Loving mother of Philip and Karin (Marty Ash), and proud grandmother of Matthew, Kathleen, Sara and Caroline. Sister of Don Wood (Mary Lou) and aunt to Adam and Ana. Dorothy was loved by her late partner, Bernhard Fritzsche and her extended family, Klaus (Rosanne) and Ilse (Bruce) and their families. Former spouse of Adolf von Seefried from 1967-1990.

Dorothy had a lifelong love of horses, reading, gardening, traveling and learning. Her kindness and strength made those near her feel loved and appreciated. She graduated with a degree in Science from University of Guelph in 1967, one of just a few women in the Agriculture program.
While raising her family, Dorothy enjoyed working with the horses, riding Trooper, volunteering with the Keswick Figure Skating Club, and obedience training with her Irish Setter, Jamie.

Dorothy continued her education completing a degree in Administrative Studies, and her Masters of Library and Information Sciences.

Together with Bernhard, Dorothy travelled, spent time with her grandchildren, and continued with her riding. She continued her volunteer work with Habitat for Humanity and Inn from the Cold.

Special thanks to Dr. Bourne and her team, Marischelle and all of the private caregivers and to the cheerful and caring staff at Sunrise Aurora.

Celebration of life will take place on Thursday February 20, 2020 from 6 - 8p.m. at the Roadhouse & Rose Funeral Home, 157 Main St. S., Newmarket.

If desired, memorial donations can be made to the charity of your choice.

In loving memory of my cousin and friend, Dorothy Wood ( Seefried ). Memories of Dorothy wash over us in our visits together in our home in Kincardine, North Western New Brunswick. We happily recall her joy of the outdoors, her great love of animals, especially equine, and her positive outlook in our many interesting chats. She worked to make this world a much better place. Rest in peace dear lady, you will be truly missed.

I met Dorothy when I joined Janssen-Otho in 1998. It was a privilege and an honour to work with her and to get to know her. I will always remember her as this kind person who always had a smile for everyone and loved her job and the people she worked with. She always took the time to explain work processes to me when I first started and was always in my court.
We carpooled together. I lived in Aurora and she lived in Newmarket and she would always arrive at my house every morning at 5:15 a.m. I discovered how much she loved her family during our rides together and we would always laugh at the funny stories she shared about her grandchildren. She always had little snacks in her car to share with me on our rides home. I was usually hungry on those rides and was so happy to share them with her. I It made me realize how lucky her grandchildren and family were to have her in their life.
It is these beautiful memories that will keep her in my life always.
