Obituary

Dorothy Beatrice Waller nee (Bradbrook) - January 2, 1922- September 18, 2020. At the grand old age of 98 Dorothy passed from this world peacefully with family by her side, watching her beloved Blue Jays. Predeceased by her loving husband of 54 years Lawrence F. Waller, Dorothy leaves behind her adoring daughter Lorraine (Murray Lloyd), grandson Tristan Lloyd, and granddaughters Sydney and Devin Lloyd (Ryan Davis).

A cherished, blessed soul who loved a good laugh, she inspired joy with her dry wit and pranks. Dorothy emigrated from Yorkshire (“where the pudding comes from”), England with her husband in 1952 to start a new life in Toronto. After a few years they decided to put down roots in Newmarket and built an extensive network of friends and family working and socializing locally. Her passion for Bingo and scrabble was renowned and played a mean game right up until her passing. Special thanks to Dr. Bagiou of Southlake Regional Health Centre and his palliative team who made the transition so much easier.

Donations may be made in Dorothy’s name to a local charity of your choice if you wish. Visitations will be held at Roadhouse and Rose, Newmarket on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 from 6 pm - 8 pm and Wednesday, September 30, 2020 from 11 am - 1 pm with service to follow, a live stream will be available for those who cannot attend due to the COVID-19 restrictions.

Given the current situation please email Lorraine at lwalle2465@rogers.com if you wish to arrange a time to meet.

So very sorry to hear of Dorothy's passing. She was a lovely lady we have so many wonderful memories from the 60's dances and gatherings with Doorthy and Laurie and Joan and Harry Syratt. And, as the years went on, the friendship continued with line dancing and events at the Seniors Centre. Will miss seeing Dorothy's smiling face. Our thoughs and prayers are with you all.

My deepest sympathy to the family on your loss. I knew Dorothy from the Seniors Meeting Place, carpet bowlers. She was such a nice person and could still bowl a great game. She will be missed by many.
