Douglas James Livingstone
March 25, 1946 – November 18, 2022
It is with great sorrow and profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Douglas James Livingstone Friday November 18, 2022, at Southlake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket, ON at the age of 76.
Doug will be sadly missed and remembered by his loving and dedicated wife Sharon (Siddons) of 56 years. Loving Father to Janet and Robert (Lauri). Extremely proud Granddad of Jordyn (Shawn) and Great Granddad to Nathan and Skylar.
Predeceased by his Father James, Mother Helen & Brother Ronald. Survived by Sisters Nancy (late Gary), Margaret (Brian), Laura and many nieces and nephews and will be missed by several friends.
Born and raised in Toronto, ON with his parents & siblings until he met his beautiful Bride Sharon. They married August 5, 1966. Soon came Janet then “Denise the Menace” Bobby aka Rob.
Doug excelled in numbers from a young age and had a mathematical brain which led him to study Electrical Drafting & Design at George Brown College in Toronto to eventually become a dedicated Electrical Consultant. He enjoyed his work so much that he never wanted to retire, he may have slowed down but still worked right till the end.
He loved living his life to the fullest by spending many vacation years in Florida with his children, then his grandchild Jordyn & then with her children Nathan & Skylar.
He lived for his Family, Work, Casinos (where he most often won), a Prime Rib Roast with Yorkshire Pudding & Gravy, a stiff Rusty Nail and Sharon’s Coconut Cream Pie.
Doug loved his sports. It didn’t matter which sport, he played them all and when he couldn’t, he would be watching them and several of them at the same time, thank goodness for the flipper, the converter never left his hand.
When they weren’t spending time at their Florida Condo, Doug, Sharon and sometimes Janet (if she could get away) became avid Cruisers. From Alaska, the Caribbean, Eastern US/Canada, South America, Panama & the Hawaiian Islands it sure was an enjoyable alternative. Great company/food/drinks, excursions and of course there was always a casino onboard.
The family would like to thank all their extended family and friends for the love and kindness shown during Doug’s illness. Special thanks to his family doctor, Dr. M. Cloth and the Emergency department at Southlake Regional Health Centre, Newmarket, ON.
