Obituary for Dr. John David Fearon

It is with deep sadness that the family of Dr. John David Fearon announces his passing on Saturday, August 7, 2021, at Matthews House Hospice in Alliston at the age of eighty-seven following a period of declining health.

Dr. Fearon will be missed by his children Louise (Joe), Michael and Elizabeth (Ian). He will also be remembered fondly by his two grandchildren, Neon and Lux as well as his fur grandbaby Jasmine, a Shiloh Shepherd to which he was attached. He was predeceased by Dorothy, his beloved and adored wife and soulmate of 63 years.

Born in Toronto on November 27, 1933, Dr. Fearon graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto in 1958. In that same year he married Dorothy Fearon, with whom he raised three children and lived with happily until her passing in March of this year. Dr. Fearon practiced as a family physician in Newmarket for 50 years, both in his own private practice and in other positions, including Chief of Staff at York County Hospital (now Southlake Regional Health Centre) and as the York Region Coroner. One of his favourite acts of kindness (one of many) was playing Santa Claus at the hospital for all of the sick children during the Christmas holidays.

Dr. Fearon and his wife Dorothy were both avid sailors and enjoyed sailing out of Midland on the Georgian Bay for many years.

A private celebration of the life of Dr. John David Fearon will take place this fall. The family would welcome any donations in his memory to Matthews House Hospice, Alliston.
