Obituary for Edith Violet Skory (Webster)

Loving wife of Jerry for 55 years, beloved mother of Cheryl (Peter) and Michael. Proud grandmother of Melissa and Michael (Suma). Survived by dear sisters Marina, Jane, and Joan, brother-in-laws, treasured nieces and nephews, and her amazing dog, Maggie.
Violet grew up on the family farm in northern Ontario, near Cochrane. At age 17, she attended the Guelph General Hospital School of Nursing. She later completed the Library Techniques Program at Seneca College (1989). She enjoyed a varied career across nursing, library work and worked alongside Jerry in his medical practice for 14 years before retiring in 2009. Jerry and Violet loved travelling and also spent many summers at their cottage near Parry Sound, especially enjoying those weekends when friends or grandkids where in attendance. Violet credits golf and bridge with introducing many new friends into her life after retirement, and she valued those friendships very much.
The family would like to thank all of their extended family and friends for the love and kindness shown during Violet’s illness. Special thanks also to Dr. A. Rana, Dr.C. Luk, Dr. H. Yuen, her Homecare nurse Hynn Kwon, Southlake Cancer Centre staff and her family doctor, Dr. N. Somasundaram. If desired, memorial donations can be made to Doctors Without Borders or to Southlake Regional Cancer Centre.
