Anne (Goode) Buckle
April 25, 1938 to March 28, 2019
Anne lived this life as a loving mom, grandma, great-grandma, sister and wife. A true momma bear who would fiercely defend and protect her pack. She believed in and loved us all…especially the littlest and most vulnerable.
Born Edna Anne Goode, prematurely in Newmarket’s York County Hospital, she came home to a farm in Queensville where her family kept her tiny body warm in a basket that rested on the oven door of the cook stove. She proved herself strong, mighty, and resilient and displayed those traits throughout her life. As a child Anne lived in Mount Albert, Toronto, Oak Ridges, and Newmarket before returning to Queensville. She left school at age 15 to help look after her siblings who are forever grateful for all her love and support. She continued to care for her younger sisters even after she married and began her own family when she was 20.
Anne moved with her husband and children to Erin, Thunder Bay, Brampton and eventually settled in North Bay in 1972. Dedicated to her children and family, Anne was a fun Tawny Owl Brownie leader and committed Sunday School teacher. She encouraged and supported her kids and grandkids (who nicknamed her Beema) helping with homework, reading bedtime stories, playing cards and board games, baking Christmas cookies, and cheering at their school events and sporting games. Her famous big box of chocolate chip cookies always brought cheers from the home team.
Her quick wit and full smile warmed a room. She rarely asked favours from others, and was renowned for putting others first. As kind and gentle as she was, she was also feisty, determined and outspoken when she saw an injustice or felt someone had been wronged.
With her attention and care, her plants grew greener, her crocuses blossomed brighter and the birds at her feeders sang more sweetly.
You’re forever in our hearts Beema. When the smell of oatmeal chocolate chip cookies baking in the oven drifts past us, we’ll know you’re stirring up a batch of cookies with the little ones in heaven.

She is loved by her children Howard (Gayle), Sue (Alan), David (Laura), grandchildren Chris, Shane, Daniel (Ashley) & Joshua; Cameron (Kate) & Lianne; Jonathan (Niki), Meghan (Rory) & Emily; great grandchildren Samantha, Jessica, Noah, Joshua, Abby, and little Lilly who adored and was adored by Grannie Annie.
Anne was predeceased by her parents Bill & Ila Goode and infant brother Sonny. She is survived and deeply missed by her siblings Margaret (Don) Smith, Richard (Donna) Goode, Barb (late Mike) Mangan, and Bonnie, Pat and Robin as well as her nieces and nephews Deborah, Gord & Lori; Tammy, Rick & Paul; and Michael, Jay & Shannon.
A graveside service will be held at Queensville Cemetery, 20778 Leslie St., Queensville on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 11 am. Following the service, please join the family for refreshments at Roadhouse & Rose Funeral Home from 12:30 -2:30 p.m. to celebrate Anne's life.
