Obituary for Eleanor Sarah Sheridan (Curl)

Eleanor Sarah (Curl) Sheridan of Newmarket died in her 98th year, predeceased by her beloved husband & partner of 74 years – Verne in 2017, and her parents John Franklin & Lily (Waines) Curl, also predeceased by 2 sisters Marjorie Shepherd and her identical twin Irene Marchildon, and grand-daughter Tracy Sheridan-Hopkins. Survived by her sister Betty (Curl) Cloudsdale, Havelock and her brother Gordon Curl, Guelph, her 6 children Verna of Waterloo, Lloyd (Jo-Ann) of Sauble Beach, John (Linda) of North Bay, Audrey of Bowmanville, George (Gail) of Sutton and Valerie (Kevin) of Keswick, 14 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Eleanor was born at home in Zephyr on Sept. 11, 1924. She worked her early years after school in Toronto and then for Dr. Case in Newmarket. Eleanor was a member of the UCW and a charter member of Women’s Institute, where she loved to enter her crafts, quilt squares & baking etc into local fall fairs and the Royal Winter Fair (and did very well)! In 1978, they retired from the farm to their home in Gormley, moved to Bogart Mill Trail condo for 11 years, moved to Alexander Muir Retirement Home for 3 years, Cedarvale Retirement Lodge & Independent Living for 2 years and Cedarvale LTC for the past 2 ½ years. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated for the Pine Orchard Cemetery, Southlake Regional Health Centre, Cedarvale Retirement LTC Lodge or a charity of your choice. The family wishes to thank Cedarvale nursing staff and team members for their support and caring for Mum during her stay in LTC. Visitation will be at Roadhouse & Rose Funeral Home, Newmarket on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 from 12 - 1 pm, followed by funeral service at 1 pm.
