Obituary for Elias John Neophytou
NEOPHYTOU, Elias John - Passed away peacefully at Southlake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket on Sunday April 9, 2023 at 85 years of age. Elias leaves behind his loving wife of 65 years, Loulla (nee Nicou). He was the proud father of James (wife Helen), and the late John (d.2010). Beloved grandfather “Pappou” of Cole, Paul and Eliana.
Elias was born in Kontemeno, Cyprus in 1937. He immigrated to Canada in April of 1965. He was determined to learn English which he did. By 1968 he owned his first Sunoco Gas Station and Repair Facility. Shortly after he added a Pre-owned Automobile Lot. He was known as the "Doctor of Motors," for Gas and Diesel Engines. He worked hard to provide for his family.
In 1978 he joined St. Andrews Masonic Lodge.
He loved to travel with his wife. He enjoyed life and loved his family and taught his sons to do the same.
Elias will be greatly missed by all!
Family and friends are welcomed to the Roadhouse & Rose Funeral Home, 157 Main Street S., Newmarket for visitation on Monday April 17, 2023 from 2-4 & 6-9 p.m. A funeral service will take place at St. Panteleimon Greek Orthodox Church, 11323 Warden Ave., Markham on Tuesday April 18, 2023 at 11 a.m. He will be laid to rest at Highland Hills Cemetery, Stouffville, Ontario. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or The Alzheimer’s Society of York Region.
