Obituary for Elida Luciani (Luciani)

On Sunday June 28, 2020, we lost our dear sister and very proud aunt Elida Luciani. She died peacefully from a heart attack at Southlake Regional Health Centre.
Her loving brother Nick was by her side.

Elida was born in Toronto March 5, 1953 to parents Grazietta & Donato Luciani, sister to Adelina & Nicola. Later another little sister Angelina.

Elida worked in accounting for the Toronto Sun for many years. She inherited the art of crocheting from our mother Grace. Her passion was making beautiful baby blankets, sports blankets for family or for anyone wanting that cozy feeling under a warm blanket. Elida was an avid sports fan. She loved her favorites Randy Moss, Marcus Allen and Cam Newton of the NFL. Her favorite Raptor was Vince Carter and of course she loved Kobe Bryant. Elida touched so many lives with her generosity and loving nature. She was small in stature but a fierce strong fighter through her life.

Elida lived in Newmarket with her sister Angie and nephews Scott and Ryan for many years. She was so proud of them and loved them fiercely and unconditionally. She loved and cared for Barney, Zack and presently Kobe, our dogs who brought her so much joy. Elida loved listening to her favorite rapper Tupac for hours on end, having a smoke with one of her loyal companions, our dogs by her side.

Elida loved her sisters Angie (Brian), Adele (Mario) and adored her brother Nick (Anna). Elida had many nieces and nephews she loved dearly; Scott, Ryan, Diana (Chris), Danny (Sanja), Randy (Melissa), Daniel (Sofia), Michael (Diana) & Joanna (Dan).

After her stroke in 2016, Elida was in Southlake Hospital. In 2019 she moved to Bradford Valley Nursing Home. We would like to thank all the medical staff at these locations for their wonderful compassionate care, especially to staff who spoke to Elida about sports and Tupac.

Due to Covid-19, we will be having a celebration of Elida's life on Thursday, July 2, 2020 for immediate family.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated by our family.
