Berry, Elizabeth Margaret (nee Robertson)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Elizabeth Margaret Berry (nee Robertson) on May 18th, 2020. She would not want us to publicly share her age, but in our opinion, it was too young.

Liz was born in Edinburgh, Scotland and emigrated to Canada as a young girl. While attending nursing school in Montreal, she met the love of her life, Wayne Berry, and started a family. After a few brief moves, they settled in Newmarket, where they resided until her passing, though her soul was happiest in Mexico. Liz worked as a Registered Nurse for over 35 years finishing her career at Southlake Regional Health Centre (previously York County Hospital).

Liz is predeceased by her father Alec Robertson, her mother Betty Robertson, and her brother, Bill Robertson.

Liz is mourned deeply by her husband of 53 years and best friend, Wayne Berry, and daughters Lisa (Gary Fraser) and Keva (Gord Harse). She will be lovingly missed by her grandchildren Lauren, Jack, Grace, Joshua, Lucas and step-granddaughter Alex; her sister in law Gundie; and her niece Natalie. Liz also leaves behind many friends - some lifelong and others more recent - who shared her love of travel, sports, animals, yoga, and red hats.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, or the Margaret Bahen Hospice.

Cremation has taken place.

Pat and I are deeply saddened by the loss of our dear friend. We are focusing on all the great times we had together. Whether on the volleyball court or playing board games, we always knew that Liz would be our fiercest competitor. We loved everything that made Liz such a special person and we will miss her greatly.

To Wayne, Lisa, Keva, and extended family members, please accept our sympathies on your loss of a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother.

Love always,
Pat and Doug

We are deeply saddened and our hearts are broken by Liz' passing. Liz was a beautiful lifelong friend who we will miss dearly. We shared our best holidays with Liz and Wayne and we are forever grateful that we were able to spend time with her in Mexico this year.

Unfortunately, a new unknown world awaits Wayne and family and everyone who was close to her, but we will be able to keep some wonderful memories alive forever.

Sleep well my dearest friend.

Betty and Doug

With much sadness I felt, when you told me of Liz's passing. Even though I didn't know her, I know how connected to her you were, and how much you will miss her. I do know that she always made you happy, and how much you enjoyed your time together, especially in Mexico and the other places you vacationed. Know that she will be missed by everyone who knew her, but you, my friend, will continue to have my support and friendship. May you be spared any further sorrow, Wayne. Be strong for your kids and grandkids. God bless. Paula R.
