Proud grandmother to Davey, Bethany (Paul), Sarah, Joshua (Carlyn), Abigail (Peter), Michael (Nicole), Joel, Isaac (Peyton), Caleb, Selah, Thalia (Corey), Samantha (Terry), Maximillian, Augustus and Adler.
Great-grandmother to Emma, Abigail, Titus, Rebecca, James, Bailey, William, Elena, Logan, Ariana, Adalaide, Violet, Olivea, Luther, Samson, Charlotte, Calvin, Lincoln, Grace, Gideon and Levi.

Predeceased by her brother, Rev. William "Bill" J. Fairlie (Anne Fairlie).

Dear daughter of the late William James Fairlie and Hazel Fairlie (nee Kenney).

Starting later in life, with three children to support, Betty put herself through teacher's college and attained her BA and Masters in Education. She served as a vocational teacher, guidance counselor and principal focused on adult education and literacy. She fervently believed in lifelong learning and helped so many adults acquire their GED for better future opportunities. She spent many years after retirement volunteering with The Rotary Club of Windsor and traveled to remote and impoverished areas in Northern Ontario, Brazil and Guatemala to help establish libraries and schools. She was fiercely independent and strong-willed. She drove her car and dog to California each winter well into her '70s. She often brought grandchildren on trips and spent a lot of special time with them. She loved watching sports and puttering in her beautiful gardens. Betty had a strong Christian faith and regularly attended Campbell and Heritage Baptist Churches in Windsor and in her later years, Victory Baptist Church in West Gwillimbury.

Betty's family would like to acknowledge the incredible and caring staff at Bradford Valley Care Community and thank them for their service.

A memorial service will be held at The Roadhouse and Rose Funeral Home on Thursday, May 25 at 11:00am. A second service in Windsor will be held this summer.

If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Canada.
