Obituary for Emma (Emmi) Doebert

DOEBERT, Emma (Emmi) Josephine

Passed away peacefully at Humber River Hospital in Toronto on Wednesday, March 3rd, 2021 at 89 years of age. Proud and loving mother to her son Richard and his wife Deena. Beloved grandmother to Stephen and Christopher. Caring step-mother to Alex and Wanda as well as her step-grandchildren Tanya (Tim), Angela (Robert) and step-great-grandchildren Jacob, Alexandra, Anastasia and Ariana. She leaves behind a sister Cecilia and a brother Johannes as well as many other loving family members back home in Germany including her nieces and nephews Magdalene, Michaela, Bernard and their families.

Emma was a small statured woman with a huge heart and a wonderful sense of humour who deeply loved her friends and family. Hard-working and tough, she came from a small river town in Germany as one of 9 kids and found her way to a happy life in Canada. Blessed with a green thumb she was always effusive and proud of the plants, flowers and gardens she had cultivated with great care. Her gifts of growth and care carried over to her love for others around her including her greatest achievement, her son Richard who was always by her side throughout her long and memorable life.

Always a lover of travelling, whether it be to the laundromat across the street or halfway across the globe to Germany, she always managed to pack an extra helping of laughter and mischief with her wherever she went. If you were particularly lucky, she might also have stowed away a piece of cake or hard candy for you
as well. Although we can no longer hear her playful voice and unmistakable laughter it will be deeply missed by those who were lucky enough to have heard it.

Though so much can be said about her, what will be remembered is that Emma possessed a bright, vivacious spirit as well as an energy and zeal for life that will be missed not only by her family and loved ones but by all those who had the opportunity to have met her.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Roadhouse & Rose Funeral Home, 157 Main St. S., Newmarket on Saturday March 20th from 2-4 p.m. A service with family tributes in memory of Emma will begin at 3 p.m. If you wish to attend, please RSVP by phone at 905-895-6631 or please email your full name and contact information to rsvp@roadhouseandrose.com.
