Obituary for Eucharistic (Chris) Antonio Bugeja

Eucharistic (Chris) Antonio Bugeja

Peacefully passed away at Soldier’s Memorial Hospital in Orillia on Thursday September 8th, 2022 in his 88th year. Loving husband of the late Helen for 65 years. Father to Joseph (Deborah) and Margareth (Carl, England). Proud grandfather to Daniel, Carissa and the late Kristen. Brother of Sylvia and half-brother of Michael, Carmel, Saviour, Joseph, Maria and Margaret. Son of the late Joseph and Josephine (nee Gambin).

Chris was born in Gozo, Malta and emigrated to western Canada in the early fifties to work on the Canadian National Railway. He soon moved to Toronto where he met his future wife Helen at Sunnyside Beach. Chris worked most of his working career at Nor Baker which was a carton manufacturing and printing company until his retirement.

Chris’ love for his family and the Toronto Maple Leafs knew no bounds. He enjoyed family holidays in Florida and summers fishing at Kennebec Lake. If you were looking for Chris on any given day, you would find him either cleaning while watching TV, snow-blowing his and his neighbours’ driveways or enjoying a home-cooked meal with his loving family. After surviving prostate cancer for 20 years, Chris’ health took a sharp decline after the diagnosis of a heart condition in February and subsequent stroke in the last few weeks of his life. Chris will be sadly missed by family, friends and all who knew him.

Special thanks to the doctors and nursing staff at Soldier’s Memorial Hospital.

A visitation will take place on Wednesday September 21st from 10am - 11am. A mass in the chapel will follow. There will be a reception directly after mass at Roadhouse and Rose with snacks and refreshments until 3pm.

The interment is private and will be attended by close family only. If you wish to watch the funeral service via live stream please click the link below.
