Obituary

Garry George Stoddart
December 02 1942- October 23 2020

It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we announce Garry’s passing on October 23 with his loving family by his side. Beloved husband of Irene (nee Moffat) of 56 years and loving father of Dayna (Arthur) Dean (Mike) and Adam (Shannon). Loving Papa of Jordana, Paige, Sydney, MacKenzie, Madison, Emerson and Sloan.

Garry was a true gentleman. A beautiful and loving soul who battled his illness with the optimism, strength and dignity with which he lived his life. Garry was an inspiration and role model to all that knew him. A true sportsman who shared his passion for sport with his family, passed down through the generations.
Donations in Garry’s name can be made to the Stronach Regional Cancer Centre and the Margaret Bahen Hospice.

Our deepest gratitude to the staff at these wonderful facilities. Online condolences can be made at www.roadhouseandrose.com

A celebration of life will be held at a future date.

Dear Irene, Dayna and Family ,
We were so sad to hear of Garry’s passing. He will be greatly missed by your family and the entire community. Garry was very good to Janet and me when we moved into Ballantrae. We shared many common interests, in particular tennis and hockey. We thoroughly enjoyed his company ,our conversations and his insight. He was so calm, understanding and engaging. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Eric and Janet Scrafield

Dear Irene, Dayna and Family,

I have fond memories of you all as BGCC neighbours, and of course BGCC tennis, serving on the executive when Garry was president, and several times as his partner in the 55+ league. I am adding one of my all time favourite photos, which I saved from my stint on the executive. Sending love and sympathy to you.

I would like to wish the Stoddart family all the best following the passing of Garry. Having grown up in Markham and spending most of my childhood hanging out with Adam, I enjoyed plenty of time around Garry. I always enjoyed riding in his white IROC sports car and playing at the arena and baseball diamond during tournaments. Garry also spent time with us on the golf course and at the Markham tennis club. I also enjoyed a week in Florida with the Stoddart family as a teenager. I look forward to seeing the Stoddart family and celebrating the life of Garry at a later date.

Dear Irene & family, please accept my deepest condolences on the passing of Garry. Although I haven’t seen Garry for many years, he was my Dad’s cousin (Jack Davidson), his mother was my grandmother’s sister, Amy Davidson. From the condolences I’ve read he was a wonderful husband, father and friend. Take comfort in these messages! Sincerely, Donna Davidson-Jones.
