Obituary for Giovanna Martellacci
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our dearest Giovanna “Nonna” Martellacci (Campoli). Born June 11, 1933, to Elena and Michael Campoli, Giovanna was a caring wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She died peacefully at home on May 10, 2021, in her 88th year with her family by her side.
After immigrating to Canada from Veroli, Italy at the age of 21 with her husband Silviano Martellacci and her 7 month old son Roberto Martellacci in January 1954. They settled in Toronto, Ontario and welcomed their second son, Jerry in 1965.
After the devastating loss of her son Roberto in 1995 and her husband Silviano in 1999 Giovanna went to live with her beloved son Jerry and her daughter in law Marion, along with their two children, Bobbi and Robert. She was an extremely proud grandmother and absolutely adored her grandchildren. They brought so much light and joy to life until her last day on earth.
Giovanna loved spending time in the garden and cooking in the kitchen for all those who came through her home. She enjoyed the simple things in life and loved to laugh. Though she faced many adversities, Giovanna lived a long and happy life. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends and will always be remembered for her kindness, love, strength, and of course her pasta sauce!
