Obituary for Grace Josephine Swartz

Grace Josephine Swartz (nee Santoro) was born in Alliston Ont on October 8 1932, the fourth child to Vincenzo and Gennerina Santoro (nee Cinquegrana). Grace moved to Toronto Ontario as a teenager where she was employed by Weston Bakery and
then later after marriage settled in Aurora Ont. to work and raise her family.

Grace loved to play the piano and her accordion. In the 1960’s she played the organ for Our Lady Of Grace Church in Aurora. Some Aurorians may remember her way back when she was the crossing guard at Yonge street and Aurora Heights drive. Later in the 1980’s she moved to Newmarket, Ontario where she worked various jobs and resided for the duration of her life.

Grace was a self taught wood worker and crafter and a prolific folk art painter happily employing these skills in her retirement years.

Beloved mother to 8 children. Linda (Len), Diana, Caroline,Joanne, Rosemary (Brian) Gary, Philip, and Laura (Brian). Loving grandmother to 11 and proud great grandmother to 17. Predeceased by her brother Nicholas Santoro and her sisters Mary Caruso, Jean Jones and Teresa Dinner and her granddaughter Tiffany Grace Stewart.

The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at Bethany Lodge in Unionville and to the nurses and doctors at Markham Stouffville Hospital for the compassionate care she received during her time with them..
