Obituary for Heather Gayle Smye (Miller)

Heather Gayle Smye passed away peacefully at Southlake Regional Health Care Centre in Newmarket, on Saturday June 26th, 2021 at the age of 72. Loving wife of Richard Smye for 52 years. Beloved mother of Brad (wife Carrie-Ann), Ryan (wife Leanne), and Shannon (partner Francis). Proud Grandmother of Natasha (husband Rob), Emma, Seyla, Ian, Devon, Kingston and Maxwell. Great-Grandmother of Valerie. Dear sister to Ron (wife Mary) and Brian (wife Lori). Daughter of the late Alvin and Martha Miller (nee Anderson). Heather will be sadly missed by several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and long-time friends.

Heather was a registered nurse for 35 years at the Sudbury General Hospital. She enjoyed shopping, golfing, spending time by their pool in Sudbury, cottaging on Manitoulin Island and travelling to Florida for the winters with her soulmate, Ricky. A special thank you to the Bradford Valley Community Care Nursing Home for taking care of Heather for the last year and a half. Thank you as well to the staff on the 3rd floor (MCC palliative care) at the Southlake Regional Health Care Centre.
