Obituary for Helen Antonia Josephine Bugeja

Helen Antonia Bugeja (nee Sammut) peacefully passed away at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto on Saturday October 3rd, 2020 in her 86th year. Loving wife of Eucharistic for 65 years. Beloved mother to Joseph (Deborah) and Margareth (Carl, England). Proud grandmother to Daniel, Kristen and Carissa. Sister of Peter, Juliet, Joan, George and the late Paul, Alexander and Mary. Daughter of the late Carmen and Sam Sammut in Gozo, Malta.

Helen was born in Gozo, Malta and emigrated to Toronto in the early 1950s. She was an esteemed accountant spending over 30 years at Simmons Ltd in Bramalea. Helen took pleasure in her semi-retirement while working at the McMichael Canadian Art Collection. Helen was blessed with a caring and jovial personality. She was a joy to be with and her beaming smile touched everyone who knew her. The love Helen had for her family knew no bounds and many were fortunate to have received her kindness, love and support. In her later years, the dementia may have dulled some of Helen’s light, but her spark was ever present.

Special thanks to the exceptional support staff at Sunnybrook Hospital.
