Obituary for Henry Joachim Wilde

Henry Joachim Wilde
April 28, 1922 – July 6, 2022

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Henry at the honourable age of 100. Former residence of Roxborough Retirement Residence in Newmarket and long-time happy resident of London, Ont.
Henry was pre-deceased by his wife Doris, his soul mate and best friend, as well as his first wife Lilo and their beloved daughter Monica. He was tremendously proud of Monica who was a warm, much-loved clinician at McGill University Hospital of Montreal.

Henry leaves behind family in Germany and Canada, his brother George in Innisfil, family in London, Aurora, and Vancouver and his sisters Marianne and Rosemary and family in Mainz, Germany.

Henry was born in Germany. After the end of WW2, he followed his brother George to Canada, settling in Toronto where he spent 25 years in a graphic arts career, volunteering his spare time as language teacher to immigrants at the International Institute of Metro Toronto and as member of their boards of directors.

After retirement, following the unforeseen passing of Monica and subsequent death of Lilo he resumed volunteering as Literacy Tutor, Library Assistant and engaged with Hospital fund raising activities in Montreal.

He was an active member of Colborne United Church in London and served as an Elder of the Church.

He enjoyed writing on various subjects and had a keen mind. His warmth, subtle humour and modesty will be remembered by his friends and family.

A private family service was held at Roadhouse & Rose Funeral Home. Henry will be laid to rest with his loving wife and daughter Monica in Montreal. Memorial donations may be made to Canadian Children’s Literacy Foundation.
