It is with great sadness that the family of Irene Hathaway (Burnes) announce her passing on June 10th, 2022 at the age of 70. Irene passed away peacefully with the love of family surrounding her after a brief but brave battle with cancer.

Irene will be lovingly remembered by her husband Brian; children Cindy (Joe), Patricia (Corey), and Glenn (Kate); grandchildren Brittany, Emily, Garrett, Ashley, Erin, Kaylee, Grace, Abby and Leah; siblings Clara, Helen, Fred, Linda and the late Jimmy; and numerous other family members and friends.

Irene was loved by all who met her. She was kind, funny, strong and the life of every party. Irene was the most loving mother who was always there when her family needed her. She was so proud of all of her beautiful granddaughters and only grandson and she will live on through all of them.

"You can shed tears that she is gone, or you can smile because she lived. You can close your eyes and pray that she will come back, or you can open your eyes and see all that she has left."

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation in Irene's name to Leeder Place Family Shelter in York Region.

At Irene's request, a private celebration of her life will be held with her immediate family.
