Obituary for James Lincoln Rowney

Rowney, James Lincoln -

Passed away peacefully on Thursday June 9th, 2022, in his 89th year. Loving husband of 64 years of Win (nee Mowat). Beloved father of Debbie (Rowney) Halinaty and Bruce Rowney (and his wife Nancy). Proud grandfather of Michael, Adam (and Brittany), Amy (and Lawrence), Alexander (and Danielle), David (and Jessy), Rachel (and Andrew) ,and Jack. "Papa" of great-grandchildren Brooke and Nolan. Admired brother of Janet Rowney and her husband Glenn Heagle. Predeceased by his brother, Paul, and his wife Pat and his son-in-law, Mark Halinaty.

Jim was born on March 1st, 1934 in Toronto. He received a Bachelor of Physical and Health Education from the University of Toronto and an Ontario Teaching Certificate, also from the University of Toronto. Jim thoroughly enjoyed 35 years as an educator and administrator with the Toronto Board of Education at the secondary level before retiring in 1992. In his spare time, Jim was an avid scuba diver, coach, instructor, musician, volunteer and Kiwanian. He will be fondly remembered by his many Kiwanis friends in the Eastern Canada and Caribbean District of Kiwanis International.

Jim was happiest spending time with his family at the cottage on Georgian Bay, especially boating and exploring the Thirty Thousand Islands in his pride and joy, 'Canisbay'.

Visitation will be held at Roadhouse and Rose Funeral Home, 157 Main Street South, Newmarket, on Monday June 27 from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. with a Celebration of Life to commence at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel.
