Obituary for James William Wilson

Wilson, James William “Willie” June 21, 1959 - March 24, 2021
After a courageous battle with cancer, Willie peacefully passed away at home
surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday March 24, 2021. Survived by his wife
of 40 years Joanie Wilson. Loving son of Eleanor Wilson (Ingleson) and the late
James Wilson. Beloved father of Chris (Kim), Catherine (Peter), and Andrew
(Amanda). Cherished grandfather to Aidan, Kendra and Mackenzie, Step-Grandfather
to Rebecca, Daniel and Chloe. Big brother to Peggy (Tom), Walter, Joe, Frank
(Charlene) and Alice (Stefan). Brother-in-law to Melinda (Rob), Michele (Paul), Harry
(Marcia) and Angela. Son-in-law of Johanna and the late Harry Vanderveen. Willie will
be missed by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Willie worked hard, always providing for his family. His working years were varied
from owning a pallet company, working for lumber companies and transport truck
driving. Willie became a truck driver trainer in 2005 and this was his most loved
position. Willie liked sharing his knowledge and experiences with his children and
grandchildren, teaching them all about the things he loved. Willie was creative,
inventive, and his wife’s personal “MacGyver”. Willie was passionate about the things
he did and the people in his life. Willie enjoyed biking, baseball, playing poker,
camping, archery and swimming, he would try new things and was never afraid to think
outside the box.
A proud accomplishment was his caravan decked out with solar power, for
electricity wherever you needed it! Willie would help anyone at anytime for any reason.
He was compassionate, caring and a true gentleman.
We would like to express our heartfelt thank you to Dr. Zibdawi, Dr. Baguio and
the healthcare team at Stronach Regional Center and St. Elizabeth Bradford caregiving
team. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Stronach Cancer / Southlake Foundation.
