Jean Hamilton, passed away peacefully in her 69th year on Saturday May 29, 2021 at Margaret Bahen Hospice, Newmarket after a year long courageous battle against cancer. Beloved wife of Ronald Hamilton for 47 years and loving mother to David Hamilton, Kristine Newberry and daughter-in-law Anna Hamilton. Loved by her grandchildren Terri Newberry, Nathan Hamilton, Laci Peters, Craig Peters and Samantha Hamilton, Jean is predeceased by her parents, brother Donald Milwain, sister Margaret Lyon, survived by her brother James Milwain and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews. Jean is fondly remembered for her sense of humour and honesty by her close friends, bingo-buddies and neighbours in Holland Landing. Over her career, Jean worked for Midland-Doherty stockbrokers, CIBC, Canada Post (rural mail contractor) and Magna International. However, her most cherished role was that of wife, mother and grandmother. A special earthly flame has been extinguished but replaced by a new star in the heavens. The family wishes to thank her visiting caregivers at home Matab (nurse) and Lynn (PSW), to Dr. Cynthia Luk (oncologist team leader), Dr. Harold Yuen (pain and palliative care) and nursing staff at Stronach Cancer Care Centre, Southlake Regional Health Centre and Margaret Bahen Hospice for their dedication and professional service in making Jean’s journey through cancer in these difficult times as easy as possible. A family funeral service was held on June 7, 2021. Jean’s ashes will be placed in the columbarium dome at Queensville Cemetery at a later date and a celebration of life will be held when a larger number of family and friends may gather. In memory of Jean donations may be made to Stronach Cancer Care Centre or Margaret Bahen Hospice.
