Passed away peacefully at Southlake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket on the 27th of August, 2021 in her 80th year. Beloved mother of Nancy Preston (Marlene) and Michael D’Orazio (Helen). Proud grandmother of Jennifer (Sheldon), Richard, Talon, Rory and Apryl. Great-grandmother of Ericka, Brayden, and Mariah. Sister of the late Mary Schurman (Johnny) of North Carolina and the late Harold Willson. Cherished aunt of Lynda Schurman Harris (CM), Janice Schurman Wahab (Bud). Great-aunt of John Cole Wahab, Anna Harris Hovancik (Dan), Melanie Harris Coffey (Shane) and Meghan Harris Mixon (Garrett). Daughter of the late Robert and Edith Willson. Joan will be lovingly remembered as a mom, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, an avid bingo enthusiast and devoted Toronto Blue Jays fan. The family would like to thank the staff at Southlake Hospital for the loving care provided during her final days, and special thanks to her caregiver “Lee” for her friendship and support. A celebration of life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 385, in Aurora, on Wednesday, September 1 at 1 p.m. Interment at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery to follow. Memorial donations may be made to the York Region Humane Society or Canadian Diabetes Association.
