Obituary for Joanne Groller
Born Nov. 10, 1953 Joanne Mary Groller (McAleer), passed away cherishing and always fighting for life after a courageous battle with cancer and autoimmune diseases. Beloved wife to Joe and loving mother to James, Joanne will be sadly missed by her sister Marlene, and brothers Lorne and Dan, their spouses and especially by the many nieces and nephews that were touched by her heart.
Joanne grew up the second youngest in the family of four kids in Scarborough, and developed into a beautiful young lady, but it was her inner beauty that always shone through. While she had many occupations throughout her life, Joanne dedicated herself to be a wife, mother and especially a good, supportive person that took such pleasure in doing special things and making others feel good. She always put others needs before hers.
Joanne had a special ability to really listen… she seemed to hear on a different level, listening more with her heart than her mind. Her compassion and gift “to hear the thoughts behind the words” made her a great mentor and trusted and supportive friend to all. She was a joy to be with, had a great sense of humour as she always tried to be positive and lighten the situation.
Joanne loved her nieces and nephews and shared her love with all young people. She dearly loved our pets, with every dog, cat and critter always connecting and wanting to be with her at all times. Joanne loved to communicate with others – you could feel the warmth and compassion emanate through the keyboard of a text or a phone call as she “stopped the world” to focus on being there and helping.
Joanne always made time to share in the joy, to “make memories”, exclaiming “Oh my Stars!” as she brought so much happiness to so many people. Everything that made her the brilliant wife, mother and friend will live on in our hearts.
The family would like to thank the wonderful Doctors, Nurses, medical support people that worked with her on this journey. Cremation has taken place, and there will be no service, but please celebrate who she was and how she lived through your thoughts and memories. Donations to the Margaret Bahen Hospice (https://www.myhospice.ca) will be remembered with appreciation by the family
