Obituary for John Stanley Bawtinheimer

BAWTINHEIMER, John Stanley: May 14, 1947 – March 28, 2020.
John Bawtinheimer; loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2020 at the age of 72 after his battle with lung cancer.
John is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Pat Bawtinheimer (nee Forsey); son, Rob Bawtinheimer and his fiancée Brittany Retter; daughter, Lucretta Recalis, her husband Ryan Recalis, and grandchildren Ethan and Emily; daughter Margaret Bawtinheimer and her spouse, Mitchell Burton; sister-in-law Carol Bawtinheimer; sister and brother-in-law, Paula and Fred Elliott; and brother David Bawtinheimer. John is preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Lucretta Bawtinheimer; as well as his brother, Ronald Bawtinheimer.
John and Pat were married September 30, 1972 and lived in Mississauga until they retired to Mt. Albert with their daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren in 2014. John and Pat spent their retirement with family and loved ones, travelling to Nova Scotia and Newfoundland to visit with family and friends, and to explore new places together.
John was a loving father and grandfather, with a big warm smile and a never-ending supply of “dad jokes”. John had a world of patience, always creating quality time and memories; teaching Margaret and Mitchell how to renovate their home, spending hours golfing with Rob and Brittany, and one cannot leave out the treats and ice cream enjoyed on the patio with Lucretta, Ryan, Ethan, and Emily.
John’s passion was bowling, where he and Pat met, introduced by his father. Being part of a Tuesday night league since the 70’s, John built many lasting friendships, and those who knew him would say being his friend was easy, that he was an easy person to love. He loved those friends like family.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Southlake Regional Cancer Centre Palliative Care Unit via the Southlake Foundation in memory of John, as the family would like to express their appreciation to the warm care received by the nurses, doctors, and health care providers (https://secure2.convio.net/srhcf/site/Donation2?df_id=3103&3103.donation=form1&mfc_pref=T).
A cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held by John’s family at a later date.
An extended thank you to all family and friends that took the time to be with John, making his final months full of love and happiness, our family is forever grateful to you.
Rest in peace John, you will forever be in our hearts.
