Obituary for John Arthur Cameron

CAMERON, John Arthur
Passed away peacefully at home on March 9, 2022, at the age of 89. Much loved step-father of Laurie. Proud and loving grandfather of Grace and Sarah. Brother of Richard (Anja) and pre-deceased by Milton (late Joan), Donald (late Lucille), and Rupert (late Betty). Lovingly remembered by his many nieces and nephews. Son of the late William and DeLima Cameron. John had many great fishing and golfing adventures with friends and family. His presence was always a joy. He had a silly and witty sense of humour and he brought laughter to many. In his younger years, he took flying lessons in a small plane. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed bowling, watching movies and baseball. In his fifties, he took up golfing and never looked back. He golfed well into his eighties and was known for golfing with only four clubs. The golf club created an annual tournament in honour of his birthday, requiring the whole field to play with only four clubs, and the meal was his favourite baseball dinner, hot dogs. He could often be found doing sudoku and word puzzles. Above all, he was a loving and generous step-father and grandpa to Laurie and her children, and a wonderful friend to Demonna and Albert. His loss is profound, and he is deeply missed. A memorial service will be held at Roadhouse & Rose Funeral Home, Newmarket, on Saturday, March 19 at 1 p.m. with 1 hour of visitation prior. A private interment will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the United Way. On-line condolences at www.roadhouseandrose.com
