Obituary for Jonathan Michael Schmidt
Friday January 13, 1978 - Thursday November 24, 2022
With shock and disbelief the family announce the passing of Jonathan Michael Schmidt due to an aggressive and cruel cancer. Jon was the loving son of Preben and Lynn Schmidt, the little bro of Jordan (Jennifer Eichenberg) and Julie (Chris Norris) and the big bro of Jessica (Drew Smythe). He was the grandson of Percy and Evelyn Storie and Niels and Marie Schmidt. He was a son, brother, nephew, cousin, uncle and good friend.
He was the proud admirer of the activities and achievements of his nine nieces and nephews Ben (quarterback), Nova (scientist), Sydney (Equestrian), Graham (music producer), Ryan (actor), Erica (hockey and baseball player), Kennedy (artist), Katrina (pianist) and Karlie (dancer and gymnast). "Unka Jon" to all.
Jon followed a career in hospitality beginning with a summer job at the C.N. tower, to traveling around the world on the Princess Cruise Lines to Hockley Valley Resort. He changed careers to become a law clerk for his dad, where his hospitality skills made clients and coworkers Tanya and Michelle adore him.
Jon loved, loved, loved his social life. He was an authentic “Peter Pan” in the guise of a gentle giant. He never missed a movie premier, especially Marvel or Japanese anime. His comic and fantasy book collection is enviable. His loyal cousin Jay and friends Todd, Greg, Mike, Adam and Steve are going to miss his booming radio announcer voice as he led them through the triumphs and battles of role playing fantasy games every Saturday. He knew “a lotta things” about “a lotta things”. Jeopardy missed a great competitor. His cat Lacey obviously knew he was a cat person as she chose him as her person.
He will be remembered as the kindest, sweetest, smartest man you could ever have met. There will be a celebration of life on Friday January 13th 2023, his 45th birthday held at Eventmrkt, 352 Doug Duncan Drive, Unit 1 Newmarket, ON L3Y 0C1 from 3pm - 6pm.
