FLATT, Julie Lynn
With heavy hearts Julie’s family announces her unexpected death on Monday, December 16th, 2019 at Southlake Regional Health Centre. Devoted daughter of the late Cecil and Dorothy (nee Clarke). Loving sister of Wendy, Gladys, Cindy and Debra. Cherished best friend of Cathi since childhood… 53+ years. (AKA sister # 6). Best aunt of Maddie (Andrew) and best great aunt of Lila, Ellie and Ava. Treasured Godmother of and namesake, Aimee Lynn (Derek). Special aunt and great aunt of many other nieces and nephews that she loved and loved her. Julie will also be missed by her many cousins and other extended family. Julie’s lifelong work involved the Canadian Mental Health Association. She was the coordinator of many mental health projects across Canada. Julie has been the recipient of multiple awards from the CMHA in recognition of her hard work and dedication. Julie traveled all across Canada and spoke at various symposia while implementing many projects that helped so many people living with mental illness. Julie will be missed by her many colleagues because of her knowledge, care and compassion. Julie was an advocate for all living creatures. Her favourite, of course, was dogs. She is now reunited with Mickey, Baron and Pepper.
At Julie’s request cremation has taken place and a private family graveside ceremony will be held at a later date.
Her family is requesting no flowers and any donations in Julie’s name may be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association, National Office.
